After another argument about Rick and his responsibility in Phoebe's death ... In his usual selfish and abrupt manner, Eric had lashed out at Stephanie and had told her the truth about Thorne’s actions. Even more importantly, he had confirmed Stephanie’s suspicions that he had already reconciled with Donna. This is MY version of what I would like Stephanie’s reaction to be … Stephanie just continued to stare at Eric for a long, silent moment then finally slumped down onto the ottoman and took a deep, inward breath. “I’ve always wondered what
this moment would feel like.” She murmured softly to no one in particular.
“To finally know when it’s over … once and for all … no going back … no
going forward … no more hope … no more love … not even any more pain or
regret … it’s just – over.” She shrugged then paused, looking around at
nothing in particular. “Lightening hasn’t Felicia quickly moved into her mother’s arms as Ridge and Thorne knelt down and wrapped their arms around the two of them. After a few moments, Stephanie took one more deep breath. “Well – now that that’s over with it –“ She sighed heavily with obvious relief. “Give me a few minutes to pack my things and then you can help me move back to the beach house. Alright?” She raised an eyebrow as she stroked Ridge’s hair and leaned her head into Thorne. The three of them hesitated – obviously tempted to object but then decided not to. Instead, they just nodded in unison. “Alright.” Ridge told her as he kissed his mother's hair and squeezed her tighter. Eric just stood there by the fireplace and watched the four of them disappear upstairs. He looked around the empty, silent room and realized that now, he knew what it felt like also. For it to finally be over with – once and for all. He had made his choice. He had gotten what he wanted. The struggle and the deceptions and the fighting were over. The four of them had closed ranks and were gone. He was the one who was left alone. Ignored. Forgotten. Discarded. He was the one who had lost it all. And he had never felt lonelier …
